access to healthy food; earning enough money; adequate housing; higher education opportunities; job opportunities; reliable transportation; andhealth services.
Responding to poverty requires a whole-of-community, collaborative approach. The aim of the Community Conversationsis to raise awareness of the poverty issues Islanders face, and to work withIslanders on a larger scale to identify potential priorities and solutions for addressing poverty.

Trinity United Church, 220 Richmond St., Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. June 3, 2018 at 7:00 P.m. Arioso, a local woman’s choral ensemble, will perform in concert as part of Trinity’s developing concert series.
Brought together by a love of music, friendship and song, Arioso is a women’s choral ensemble that has delighted Island audiences with their joyful and melodic performances. The name “Arioso” means vocal music that is more melodic than recitative but less formal than an aria. The ladies have many familial connections that take their performances to a deeper level. Their love of music and each other is evident in every performance. Every year Arioso takes a week’s vacation together in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, which reminds them of the reasons that they love to sing together. Arioso is currently comprised of vocalists Maureen Brennan, Claire Caseley-Smith, Heather Coulson, Juliana Elsinga, Meghan McCarthy, Victoria Coulson, and pianist Jennifer MacDonald. All of these ladies have deep roots in music, many are music teachers and most have been performing since they were children!
Arioso’s repertoire ranges from Celtic, folk, and contemporary to sacred and classical. They always ensure there are a few favourites audiences are sure to recognize! Over the past 10 years they have had the pleasure of appearing at the Indian River Festival, Summerside’s Chautauqua Festival and Charlottetown’s Canada 150 Celebration, where they sang alongside the “Men of the Deeps”. Arioso has also appeared in many beautiful Island churches, with concerts in aid of the congregation as well as local charities such as “The Christmas Tree of Hope” and “Friends of St. Mary’s.
The venue, Trinity United Church in Charlottetown, is well known for its amazing acoustics and warm, welcoming congregation. The roots of Trinity go back to 1778, but the present sanctuary structure was opened and dedicated for public worship in November of 1864 and it is the oldest Charlottetown church building in continuous use as a place of worship. Community is very important at Trinity. Over the past few months Trinity has been developing a concert series as a means to provide an intimate musical experience for its congregation and the Island community at large. This concert is sure to delight!
